Ground was broken just days before the 1929 stock market crash on the original LA Stock Exchange (later the Pacific Stock Exchange). Designed in Classical Moderne Style by architect Samuel E. Lunden of Parkinson and Parkinson. Opened in 1931 at 12 stories, with granite facade and elaborate 2880lb bronze doors. Above is the ‘mission statement’ with tribute to American capital markets and three bas reliefs by sculptor Salvatore Cartaino Scarpitta. In 1986, the PSE moved to new quarters and the building is now operated as a nightclub and event space.
